En Pointe – DominicanaModa 2009

I find the graceful, delicate, and ethereal movements hypnotic… the slender figures of dancers as they glide on pointe, like wandering spirits across a stage. And somehow, it makes me think of every woman who dances every day, like a prima ballerina in the spectacle of life.

Sublime. Captivating. Unforgettable.

About this project

En Pointe was my love letter to the romantic era of ballet—a 29-look collection that merged my two greatest passions: fashion and dance. Inspired by the legendary Marie Taglioni, the ethereal sylph who revolutionized ballet, this collection captured the poetry of movement through silk gazar, meticulous pleats, and delicate embroidery in a palette of soft pinks, grays, golds, reds, purples, and blacks.

Collection Highlights

  • The Fusion of Dance & Fashion: Real ballerinas performed alongside models on the runway, creating an immersive theatrical experience that honored both disciplines. This innovative presentation approach set a new standard for Caribbean fashion shows, proving that fashion could be as performative and emotional as any art form.
  • Award-Winning Recognition: En Pointe earned the prestigious Best Féminine Prêt-à-Porter Collection award at DominicanaModa 2009, affirming the collection's artistic vision and technical excellence. The accolade marked a pivotal moment in establishing CDM as a force in Caribbean haute couture.
  • Commercial & Critical Success: Beyond critical acclaim, En Pointe resonated deeply with women who connected to its message of everyday grace and strength. The collection's strong sales performance proved that romantic, artistically-driven fashion could be both commercially viable and culturally meaningful in the Caribbean market.

On the runway, ballerinas danced alongside models, bringing the garments to life in a performance that blurred the boundaries between fashion and art. Each piece was designed to move—to float, to twirl, to tell a story of grace and strength. This wasn’t just a fashion show; it was a pas de deux between fabric and form, where every pleat held a pirouette and every silhouette sang of the stage.

The response was extraordinary. En Pointe won Best Féminine Prêt-à-Porter Collection at DominicanaModa 2009 and became one of my most successful collections commercially, resonating with women who saw themselves in the everyday ballet of life—strong, elegant, utterly unforgettable.
